How to Cut a Pineapple Properly & Fancy

Before learning how to cut a pineapple, it is suggested to first learn to buy a ripe pineapple. Take pineapple in your hand and pluck its center leaf. If comes out easily, it indicates that the pineapple is the ripe one and ready to be eaten. Buy the pineapple that is ripened. Before slicing the pineapple, place it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes in upside position (leaves downward). This is done to have pineapples sugar interspersed throughout the fruit. After 30 minutes, twist away the leaves with firm hand to remove them. Cut a thick slice from either side. Now shear the outer skin of the pineapple in a circular way. If any brown stubs are seen in the inner flesh of the fruit, pick them out with a blunt knife.

Now the sheared pineapple is ready to be sliced. Take a sharp knife, hold the pineapple horizontally and cut the slices in desired thickness. If hardened center of the slice is to be removed, cut it with the point of the knife and then pull the center out. After removing the hardened center, the slices of pineapple are ready to be savored.
